Author Signing: Melissa de la Cruz

If any of you have read my previous posts, you know that Melissa da la Cruz had a signing at Blue Willow Bookshop on Friday.

My friend and I attended the signing, and had so much fun! There were so many people there! Melissa was introduced, and so was another author, Tera Lynn Childs. Then, Melissa started talking about her series and read a little bit from her upcoming book, THE VAN ALEN LEGACY.

After that, she answered a few questions like:

When you were writing about Schuyler, was there a certain person you had in mind?

She answered by saying that not many people like the answer to this question, but that's just who she imagined the character to look like. She said Mary-Kate Olsen (when she was in good health, and really pretty.)

If you could choose a cast roles for your characters, who would the actors/actresses be?

She said that the CW had actually considered BLUE BLOODS for a TV series, but that didn't work out, sadly. However, she did say that they had an ideal Schuyler and Mimi. For Schuyler they wanted Kristen Stewart (I hate this choice) and for Mimi they wanted Amanda Seyfried.

How many books are going to be in the series?

Melissa said that she imagined about ten books for the series, but that she didn't want to keep the series going if there was nothing else to tell.

After a couple more questions, we lined up and she started to sign our books. I was standing right behind Tera Lynn Childs (author of OH.MY.GODS and GODDESS BOOT CAMP) but was too scared to introduce myself.

When it came to be my turn, I introduced myself and we chatted for a couple of minutes, then we took a picture after she signed my books! It was really fun :D Here is a picture of Melissa de la Cruz and I.

I even got an extra copy of REVELATIONS signed! So I'll have that contest up either later today, or tomorrow!

Author Signing: Daniel Waters Signing

Today was probably the best day of my life, and yes...I am serious. Today was so amazing, you see, because I got to meet Daniel Waters, one of my all time favorite authors, along with my friend.

The signing was at Blue Willow Bookshop, in Houston, Texas. And before I get into anything about the signing or the goodies I got, I want to talk about how nice the employees were at Blue Willow. After explaining to Daniel Waters about my blog, one of the employees: Cathy, came up to me asking for my URL, and I happily gave it to her. But that's not all, she also, unexpectedly hands me two ARCs! And from the Melissa Marr signing, she had some extra court bands and I got to get some more of them! And all of that was very appreciated and I am grateful, but the best surprise was only coming! She let me have a cardboard poster of the cover of Kiss of Life! So, if you want to be treated hospitably, I recommend going to Blue Willow Bookshop!

And now to the signing, because I know you want to hear about that. Okay, we got there a little late due to Houston traffic, but all was good. A couple of questions were asked like...

Are any of your characters inspired by anyone you know in real life? To this, Daniel answered no, but that some characters shared names of those he knew in real life.

How many books are going to be in the series? The answer to this question he was not certain to, but his estimate was six. So yay for that!

He also mentioned that he already turned in the draft for the third book in the series...and it will be named Passing Strange! I hope I'm aloud to say this...and that about half of the book is written in journalism form, meaning newspaper articles. From this, I got the impression that many deadly or surprising events will happen in this novel, and that newspapers will be writing about it, but that's just my theory.

Towards the end of the Q&A, my blog was mentioned and I told Daniel my name and he remembered me, because of my frequent comments on his blog! So that was a cool moment! While Dan was getting ready for some signing, I gave a few of the other "zombie" fans my URL and got two copies of Kiss of Life, one for me, and one for a lucky reader! (Contest will be posted soon!)

For some reason, I wasn't shy at all while Dan was signing my books. I'm saying this because I actually talked, which is not normal for me around people I don't see everyday. Well, he signed my poster, my three books and I stuck around to listen to an interview between Dan and Raschel over at The Haunted House! I think I'm even mentioned in the video by Daniel himself!

So yup, that's pretty much why my day was so amazing. So again, special thanks to Daniel Waters and to the Blue Willow Bookshop! Looking forward to meeting Dan again in the future, and to revisiting Blue Willow!
